What year did you graduate and from what campus?

I graduated from the North Campus in February of 2006 and from the Instructor Training program in July of 2006.

Why did you choose a career in cosmetology and why GJA?

I chose this career for the artistic passion, creativity and pure fun of it all.  I chose Gene Juarez because of the reputation and the leadership in development of the craft and technique.

What are you currently doing and what other industry related experience do you have other than your current position?

I am currently an educator at GJA and also train our future instructors.  I still get to do hair but now I focus on teaching others how to develop their artistry and technique.

How did your training with GJA prepare you for the industry and the work you are currently doing?

Gene Juarez Academy set a fantastic level of commitment, education and a high level of guest service which definitely prepared me to teach with passion, patience and a degree of excellence.  I was taught to value our students and guests and strive to achieve the 5 star experience each day.

What do you enjoy the most about your current position? What is your typical day like?

I absolutely love teaching students, training them in technique and watching them blossom into amazing artists.

What is your fondest memory of GJA?

Fondest memories will always be when a student grows to become an amazing artist in their own right and they still come back to thank you for how you helped them reach their goals.  I love that!  It makes me feel like I’ve made a positive impression in someone’s life.

What advice do you have for current students starting out in the program, and those getting ready to graduate?

My advice for current students is to definitely be here, stay focused and have fun.  And for upcoming graduates, always continue to grow.

What advice do you have for people that are interested in going to cosmetology school?

It is an amazing career and it is so satisfying to make someone’s day.  Plus, it is so much fun!
