On March 16th, our world of providing hands-on cosmetology training and affordable beauty services came to a grinding halt. Within two weeks of the mandated school closure due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we developed a distance education solution for our student body. Since then, students have been able to earn 30 hours each week while participating in fun, interactive theoretical classes from the safety of their homes.
Educators utilize web-based platforms, Pivot Point LAB and WebEx, to deliver our curriculum and additional content to students in all stages of their education. While the online learning experience doesn’t quite compare to the on campus experience of providing services on guests, participating in creative competitions or outreach events, it does provide something very important. It provides us a way to move forward in life when so many things are happening in the world that are beyond our control.
In addition to launching distance education, we made our on campus admissions tour experience virtual. Individuals seeking more information or wanting to start the enrollment process are able to meet with an admissions and financial services representative online. Virtual tours provide the same level of program and financial aid information as an on campus tour would. Our enrollment team guides prospective students every step of the way so they can make informed decisions about their education and future career.
As the Stay Home, Stay Safe order continues, distance education proves to be a lifeline for helping both existing students and new enrollments move forward with their training, receive funding and stay connected with each other until we can reopen our doors.
