Assistance with job placement starts from the beginning by connecting students with our large network of salon employers at our bi-annual career fairs and during on-campus presentations. Qualified students are given the opportunity to participate in an externship with a local salon. We also regularly announce available positions in the region and take students on tours of Gene Juarez Salons & Spas locations so they can explore their options.
New curriculum updates shows that we evolve. In an ever-changing industry we need to keep up with trends and then pass that along to you. Our most recent update includes Lash Training, which certifies all cosmetology students to perform eyelash extensions upon graduating. Be on the lookout for more exciting updates soon!
Dedicated educators fill our classrooms. They have a passion for the beauty industry and for sharing their knowledge and experience through teaching. They stay on top of the latest trends & techniques through continuing education from Gene Juarez Salons & Spas trainers and our vendor partners such as Goldwell, Bumble and bumble and Ouidad. This ensures that we provide training that is relevant to what today’s salon clients want and the skills necessary to deliver.
Our busy student salon keeps you busy. Once you’re on the floor taking clients, you’ll be able to provide a wide variety of services to a diverse clientele and apply best practices for salon success such as prescribing products for at home care, asking for referrals and utilizing social media. You’ll be able to practice in-demand technical services like balayage and keratin smoothing treatments that are beyond the basic skill requirements to become licensed.
Mentorship from industry professionals within the Gene Juarez organization as well as from leading industry brands such as Bumble and bumble and Goldwell will give you a well-rounded education. The opportunity to learn from a variety of successful professionals takes a student’s educational experience to a whole new level that is invaluable.
Portfolio photoshoots with a professional beauty photographer will allow you to keep a personal collection of runway hair shows, impromptu classroom competitions and much more.
Giving back to the communities we serve is important to us which means students may volunteer at outreach events giving free services to those in need as well as participate in fundraisers benefiting local charities and causes.
Experience using leading industry products found in top salons globally such as Bumble and bumble®, Color Wow®, CND®, evo®, Eufora®, Ouidad®, R+Co® and many others so students know how to identify the best products for their clients during services & to use at home.
State Board Exam Prep is extensive and thorough. Not only is our student’s pass rate amongst the highest, we also cover the initial exam & test kit costs plus assist in the scheduling of the exams to alleviate any unnecessary stress during the process of becoming licensed.
It all started with the dreams of a young man raised by two hard-working parents in the small town of Wapato, Washington. Our founder, Mr. Gene Juarez, was drawn to the idea of a career doing hair because it would allow him to be creative and work with his hands at the same time. In order to become “Mr. Hair”, Gene moved to Seattle where he received his cosmetology education and initial experience working at the best salons in the city.
With a strong work ethic and unwavering drive to succeed, Gene opened his first downtown Seattle salon in 1971. As Seattle’s first contemporary fashion salon, Gene Juarez introduced Seattle women to best in class service, artistry and innovative European haircutting techniques. A few years later, after training with Vidal Sassoon, the second Gene Juarez Salon location opened inside the original downtown Seattle Nordstrom on Fifth Avenue, offering a connection to fashion and world-class client service.
The Gene Juarez brand continued to grow with the opening of three more salon locations and the Advanced Training Center. Gene and his business partner Michael Coe knew that in order to expand the company to more locations, they needed to have schools to train the next generation of hairdressers. And in 1987, the first Gene Juarez Academy opened in North Seattle to provide first class cosmetology education in the Northwest. Three years later, the second Academy opened in Federal Way and was the largest beauty school in the Northwest.
Over the years, the company has continued to grow with 9 salon and spa locations and relocation of the north campus to Mountlake Terrace with a state-of-the-art training facility. We have remained locally owned and employee over 1,000 licensed professionals.
The Gene Juarez brand is well known locally for providing outstanding client experiences with in-demand beauty services at luxurious locations. We are well-known both nationally and internationally within the beauty industry for our commitment to artistry and innovative education as well as launching the careers of countless professionals.
