Students Volunteer at Hope Place
On March 26, ten Gene Juarez Academy students and staff members from ourNorth Seattle Campus attended a community outreach event with Hope Place, a program affiliated with Seattle Union Gospel Mission. Hope Place serves women and women with children who are on the road to recovery. Their mission is to provide a safe, healing environment for women where their compassionate staff walk side-by-side with the residents to assist in their recovery. Hope Place provides housing, meals, clothing and personalized counseling.
The program allows for the women to attend classes geared toward health and wellness, math, writing, job training skills, and bible studies. Once a quarter, they celebrate the accomplishments of the residents and present them with awards for completing their courses during the graduation ceremonies.
The GJA students volunteered their time to provide haircuts and dry styling for the graduation ceremony.
